Walking For The Forgotten Children
A few weekends ago my sisters and I woke up early and volunteered for an event to raise awareness for the over 1,100 children that are left without a Guardian Aid Litem.
For those of you who don't know Guardian Aid Litems are adults are assigned to assist children going through the court system. To give them a voice. They are also called Court Appointed Special Advocates or CASA, CASA is Kappa Alpha Theta's philanthropy. We support and raise money for them and it is my favorite part of Theta because my cousin has been stuck in a custody battle for years now. He is my favorite person on the planet and I think about him everyday.
We woke up really early on Saturday and walked across the street to the park and helped set up for an event to raise money and awareness for the children left without a "voice." We hauled water, helped vendors unpack, and ran the bounce houses.
Then, at 10 o'clock we all took a lap around the park
and after that we enjoyed all of the vendors and the performers.
It was a really fun day and I am really glad that we got the opportunity to interact with the children directly instead of just raise money for them. Not only that but I loved getting some quality time in with some of my sisters.
It was a a fabulous time.
