Best Thanksgiving Ever! (a.k.a Black Friday Shopping Win)

Today shall be categorized as a win. Actually an epic win.

Not only did I get to eat a delicious Thanksgiving dinner with my Twin's family (Thanks Rebecca!), but I experienced Black Friday shopping for the first time and it was a complete success.

Rebecca and I had one goal, to obtain the fourth season of The Big Bang Theory. That is a favorite show of ours and she currently owns only the first three seasons while the show is in its fifth season. For the past few months we have searched for the fourth season for a price cheaper than forty dollars, which is the retail rate at most stores. We have been unsuccessful.

But then, at dinner, Rebecca's sister mentioned that it was on sale at Target for about ten dollars for Black Friday. We both decided that that was 100% worth it. Target opened at midnight and so we planned to go then. Later, Rebecca looked up when Walmart opened and discovered that it started its Black Friday sales at ten so we changed our plan to hit there first and then go to Target if Walmart proved to be a dud.

Walmart was not a dud. Not at all. We got there at about 9:15 and walked around the store, scoping out what was going on and making our way to the electronics section. The store had set up some balloons at the ends of different aisles marking the beginning of lines for certain big ticket items. But the electronics section seemed unusually empty and the TV show section unusually stocked and unguarded. We grabbed copies of the show but something seemed really fishy so we walked down the main aisle where people were milling about. While the big ticket items seemed to be really well organized the smaller items did not. People were just standing around saran wrapped boxes of electronics and DVDs. Eventually we came upon the TV show box, there was a group of people standing around it and we saw that the DVDs inside it were all marked with special stickers.

It was then that we decided to put back the ones we picked up in the regular section and stake out the area around the box. There was a group of guys standing right in front of the side of the box that The Big Bang Theory was on. Which concerned us because it looked like there were only about six copies but there was also True Blood, Vampire Diaries, and Supernatural on the same side.

At about 9:55 we had gotten more packed in and you could feel the tension in the air. There seemed to be a ripple of activity flowing through the store. Then some random women came up and said that employees were opening things up down the aisle. One of the guys made the decision to rip into the box, beginning the scramble, and surprisingly went right for Vampire Diaries. I squatted down and went through the guys legs to grab the fourth season from the bottom shelf and then we booked it out of there.

Rebecca wanted to get slippers so we escaped to the very empty shoe section and while we were in there we heard a scary brawl happen in the middle of the PS3 section, there was very loud yelling and we could see pushing amongst the crowd. We circled around and come out back in the electronics section where stuff didn't go on sale until midnight. There we found a check out counter with practically no line.

The guy scanned the DVD and it came up for.... five dollars. WHAT!! The slippers she bought were more expensive. WE JUST BOUGHT A $40 DVD SET FOR $5!!

We couldn't believe it, it was amazing. Knowing that we got it for that cheap makes watching it so much more enjoyable. We would have bought out the whole electronic section if we had known it was going for that cheap.

Best Thanksgiving ever!
