I Am Thankful For.... Part 1.

This week I am thankful for being a part of my sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta, and the wonderful ladies that I get to share it with.

Today is the 2nd anniversary of the Eta Tau chapter being established at my school. I was fortunate enough to be a charter member and help bring Kappa Alpha Theta to the University of Tampa.

It has been two years of trials and tribulations as we have tried to find our identity and establish a working chapter. It has been quite an adventure.

Freshman year when I first started at school all I could think about what the piece of advice that I had received the most before starting college - get as involved as possible.

Joining a sorority was never something that I had ever imagined doing. I didn't, and still don't, feel like a sorority girl. I missed the sign up for formal recruitment and found myself more disappointed then I thought I would be.

But then I got a flier in my locker about Kappa Alpha Theta, a sorority coming to our campus to the first time. Because they were new they were recruiting separately from formal recruitment. I found myself oddly happy for a second chance so I went to the information session and from there I signed up. After that everything I learned about Theta just made me realize how perfect of a fit we were. Especially the fact that Walt Disney's daughters are both Thetas!!

I loved that our philanthropy is CASA, which stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates, which helps give a voice to children going through court.

I love that our highest aim is scholarship. It helps me keep school in focus.

I love that we hold faith, hope, and love close to our hearts.

Every moment since joining has been wonderful. From finding the best family ever:

To volunteering for multiple different organizations:

To growing our chapter each semester:

And finally, to celebrating sisterhood in many, many different ways:

I am crazy proud of my sisters and everything they have accomplished in this semester. I am very excited to rejoin them in the spring, I miss them very much.

Theta holds a special place in my heart and always will. It is something that I never dreamed I would be a part of and I am thankful every day to have taken the leap of faith.

Congratulations on two years Eta Tau. Here's to the future!
