Spring 2015 - Day 10
The first half of this day was fairly productive but by the end of it I did not feel well at all. I think I finally had a bit of sea sickness. It wasn't bad, I had a huge headache and because of it I didn't have any appetite and was exhausted. In my drawing class I felt like I could fall asleep and by the end of it I was so exhausted and had such a bad headache that I felt awful. I went back to my cabin and took a nap for an hour. When I woke up I still didn't feel like eating anything. I went and met the girls on the 5th deck dining room. They had already eaten but I sat there and listened to them start to plan their time in Japan.
Jessi and I are going to join them in Tokyo the first two days and then will be headed back to the ship and traveling with the ship to Kobe because of our field program. All of the other girls have no plans so they will be traveling on their own from Tokyo to a few other cities and finally to Kobe the last two days.
Maybe it was because I wasn't feeling great but I just did not like the sound of anything they were saying. I just got in a worse and worse mood. It probably stemmed from the fact that I really wan to go to Tokyo Disney and all of them could care less about it. They brush it off as the stupidest thing and I now have no choice but to either follow along with what they are doing or go there alone. It is frustrating because Jessi agreed to go with me and now that there is a cooler thing to do she doesn't want to. I mean, I understand, Disney isn't all that exciting for someone who has never been to the ones in the US but still, I was looking forward to it and now I don't know what to do.
I guess I have 8 days to figure it out.
Oh, one thing that I forgot to put in yesterday's blog was an update about my computer. I found out in the middle of the day that I will be getting almost $1,600 dollars from the insurance company for my computer and if I use that money to buy a new computer they will then pay for the other half. How awesome, I will be able to get another nice Mac when I get home.
Then I talked to my dad about my current computer situation and he said that I should just buy a new Mac in Tokyo and send them the receipt so that they can deal with the insurance. So I will now be adventuring to an Apple store in Tokyo and buying a new 15" Macbook Pro. According to my dad they do have U.S keyboards, which is definitely a requirement.
I am very excited because my current computer is a serious struggle. It can't handle doing very much and takes forever to load anything. I can get away with just emailing but as soon as I try to unload and look at photos it crashes. The makes doing assignments for my photojournalism class very tedious.
I also forgot to tell you about how, yesterday, when I went to the deck 5 dining room for dinner, my art teacher grabbed me, asked me if I had plans, and then asked if we could eat together. So I ate dinner with my art teacher and she asked me about some of the ideas she had for the class and said that she wanted to talk to me about them because I am one of the more mature students in the class. She has a lot of cool ideas, like a group drawing, and trying to sell our art on the ship as a fundraiser. I told her all about the shipboard auction and how we can donate some pieces to that.
It was a pretty interesting dinner for an evening when I wasn't expecting anything like that.
Tonight for dinner I just had two pieces of banana bread and a cup of noodles, which were the only things my stomach was comfortable with. When I walked into the dining room where the rest of the food was my stomach just rolled right over. I really didn't feel good.
Today was a really rough day, I don't even remember what I did in the morning because the evening is burned in my brain as being so awful. At least we get to go back an hour tonight so we get an extra hour of sleep. Tomorrow we will now be 6 hours behind all of you guys on the east coast. Hopefully the extra hour of sleep will help me and I will feel better.
Tomorrow's another day!
