Spring 2015 - Day 57
In photojournalism, we went back to the basics. Amber quizzed us on what we would set our camera to in different situations. It was helpful because I struggle with setting my camera up quickly.
World Myth was as boring as usual. I blogged pretty much the entire time. Not sure what I am going to do when we have a test, it is probably not going to go well.
At lunch I met with my RD to talk about sea olympics. Morgan organized it between me and the other sea captains but only I showed up. We discussed the sign up and sending an email out to our entire sea. The sign up are now posted out side of my door, which makes life very interesting because people stand right outside my room and have very loud conversations. It is entertaining.
In mixed media we did the same exact collage exercise that we did in drawing but she had us focus on figures. I did a collage of the ladies that worked at the resort I stayed at. They wore beautiful maroon longyis. I enjoyed doing the collage again, I really enjoy that class.
Right after dinner we were all sitting out on the 7th deck watching the sun set and the moon rise at the same time. I decided it would be awesome to take a panoramic photo with both the sun and the moon it it. So I ran to my room to get my phone. The small jogging I did exhausted me, which was ridiculous. I think I am getting sick, which is not good because India is tomorrow.
I missed my awesome panoramic photo by only about 20 seconds. The sun set faster than I thought it would. But I still took a few cool panoramas, and pictures of the moon. The clouds also looked amazing after the sun set so it was worth going to get my camera.
The ship took a really sharp left turn in the middle of me taking my pictures. I had never experienced that before, it was strange. Suddenly the moon was in a completely different locations and the line of our wake that is left by the ship curved sharply. Apparently we were weaving our way to India.
Logistical pre-port was not all that exciting.
Dean Bob has this running joke that is absolutely not funny at all. He holds up a blow up globe, reminds us we are all on a ship, and then takes a tiny boat and retraces our voyage on the blow up globe. It was funny the first time he did it but now it is just old. And boring. But he does it every time.
We are going to be docked by 8:00. They have no idea where we will be docked because we are assigned a spot when we arrive. So the powerpoint slide that usually says what deck the gangway will be on just said "It's Whatevs" because we won't know till we get there. We will have face to face immigration where we will receive a copy of our passport and a landing card. In this country, if we lose our landing card then we can not get a new one and will have to go to the police station and basically be stuck in the country for a while.
Once we go through face to face and have our landing card we can get off the ship. We will only need our passports if we are leaving the city, exchanging money, flying, and staying in a hotel.
We will have to show our landing card every time we get on or off the ship.
We should try to avoid all public transportation because it is not very safe. Not because the people on it aren't safe but because the traffic was crazy and so private transportation is much safer.
The currency is the rupee. 1 rupee = 62 USD.
That was pretty much it.
My expectation for India is to spend 6 days very, very, uncomfortable. But I am up for the challenge.
