A Surprise Weekend in Connecticut!
This weekend I flew up to Connecticut to surprise all of my coworkers and friends at Lake Compounce. Nobody knew I was coming except for my mom.
I flew up on Thursday and spent the day with my parents. Then, on Friday I went to work at 3 when I knew Colleen would be there. I was hoping to get there before her but that failed and when I pulled into the parking lot she was there sitting in her car. So, I just pulled up right next to her and stared at her until she noticed. She was very surprised.
I saw Traci and Matt next, they saw me in the parking lot and I jump attacked Traci. We made them promise to not tell anyone that I was here.
Colleen and I went up to base so that she could start working. I saw tons of people and most of them did a double take when they saw me. Everybody thought I was crazy. Apparently it is not a normal thing to fly home for a vacation and go to work... But I love it there.
I was hoping to surprise the rest of the team all at once but they don't have meetings during Halloween so I just put my uniform on, casually stood in guest relations, and waited until people noticed me. I absolutely love surprising people.
Now, I couldn't actually work because at the end of the summer I had to quit. That is just the way they do things, next summer I would be hired back. So, I don't technically work there but I hung around just to see what October was like because I have never been able to work it, I have always had to go to school. I helped a little when it got really busy. It was a lot of fun. Its crazy to me that they do so many people in such a short amount of time.
Because it is Halloween time team members are allowed to dress up in costume and they do a pretty fantastic job. For example:
On Saturday morning I went hiking on Sleeping Giant with Colleen, Lexie, Matt, and Traci. We had tons of fun although now my calves hurt so badly. It was beautiful up there. I haven't been in Connecticut for fall in a very long time so it was awesome to see all the beautiful colors. And it wasn't even that cold. It took us about an hour and ten minutes to hike the whole thing and we spent a while at the top in the tower.
We got Subway after our hike and then went back to Lake Compounce for more work! Yay!
The most fantastic prank occured at the end of the night. My manager, Mike, was charging his phone in the General Manager, Jerry's, office. Jerry was leaving so he came in and handed me the phone and told me tell Mike that it was locked in his office. And if he got in the office and saw that it was gone to tell him that I don't know where it is. But then Jerry decided to take some pictures with Mike's phone so he took one of Traci and me and one of his shoe. Then he wanted to make one the wallpaper on the phone but instead he found the Facebook connection and upload it to Mike's Facebook with the greatest caption:
Micheal flipped when he discovered the office was locked and when he called Jon to get the key Jon said he did not have one because he was in on it. It was all very hilarious. Micheal was mad we hid his phone but he thought the Facebook post was hilarious. These are the reasons I love work.
After work a whole bunch of us went to Denny's. Denny's was the restaurant of choice because we got our of work at 12:30 so it was the only place open. Even though it was last minute about 15 of our team members were able to go. We had a great time.
My team is freaking fantastic and I love them so much. Decided to fly up to Connecticut was totally worth it. I was supposed to fly back to Orlando on Monday afternoon but because of the crazy hurricane that is about to destroy all of New England I decided to change my flight to Sunday eve night. That ending up being a fantastic idea because my flight that was on monday was canceled. So, I am already back in Florida. I'm very sad that I had to leave early since I was going to go to work again tonight but I really didn't want to be stuck in Connecticut until Wednesday or Thursday. Disney doesn't take missing work lightly.

That is exactly how life feels at the moment. How does Taylor always know? I have still have a day off tomorrow and then its back to the grind.
