Surprise Trip to Tampa!
I will be going to Tampa on Saturday because it is my sororities initiation and I wouldn't dare miss that. But, yesterday was my day off and I didn't feel like sitting alone in my room with my thoughts for the whole day so I decided to drive down to school without telling anyone to visit.
I worked on Saturday until 1:45 so I decided to sleep in and just go when I woke up and was ready. I left around 1:15 and got there a little before 2:30. I walked into the courtyard by our dorm and saw one of my roommates. She was so confused, it was awesome. She was in a meeting but she told me that Kellie and Jessica were just chilling in the room so I headed up there and just knocked on the door.
When I walked in Kellie just stared at me and asked what the hell I was doing there. Then Jessica walked out and was equally confused. Then I got lots of hugs. I talked to Kellie for a bit and then walked over to Falk theatre. My fabulous little, Jill, is in the play and had all day rehearsal. But they had a break so I went over to see her and my other friend Ben. They jump attacked me as soon as I walked in the door. Ben hid so it scared the bajeezes out of me. And also hurt a little because I am extremely sunburned.
I helped them rehearse this random stanza from Romeo and Juliet that they were practicing on break for a different performance. It was random.
When they had to go back to rehearsal I went back to the dorm and basically just laid on Kellie's bed and watched her get ready for our chapter meeting. Sounds boring but that's ok, I needed some best friend time.
We then got dinner and then changed for chapter, which was at 7.
Gathering for chapter was hilarious. Everyone that saw me would first say hi casually, like normal, and then do a double take when they realized who I was. It was very enjoyable.
The meeting itself was amazing to go to, which was kind of a weird feeling because when we are actually at school we aren't always that excited to go to chapter every week. But after being away it made me feel like something normal was happening and brought me back in touch with my sorority a little. Definitely something that I needed.
After that they had class meetings to get ready for Nomination Committee, to select a new Executive board for next year. Something very exciting. I just sat and listened and told people about Disney.
Kellie and I then got ice cream. I had a double fudge cookie dough blizzard for DQ. That used to be my usual ice cream. I would never eat that as often as I used to but it was a fantastic treat.
After that Kellie and I just laid on her bed for probably a good hour, maybe longer. She is fabulous and I miss her so much. Like I said before, sometimes I just need some Kellie time. When I laugh with her it is a different kind of laughter. The kind of laughter where you tear up and your stomach hurts. I love her so incredibly much. Seeing her was exactly what I needed.
I left them at about 11:15 because they were going to bed. But I went over to the Boathouse to say goodbye to Ben. Talking to him always makes me feel better too, we are new friends but we have the deepest talks. Its fantastic. We sat on the porch for over an hour. Then I got the most fabulous surprise of seeing my friend Mitchell, who I was in a movie with last year. I hadn't talked to him in ages so that was amazing.
I finally left a little before 1 and drove home.
It sounds like the most boring and simple day but it was exactly what I needed. Being here at Disney is fabulous but it has not only separated me from my friends in CT but it has denied me my friends and life at school. Which, in the past, was what distracted me from leaving CT. But I feel so much better now. Its good to know they are just an hour away and I get to see them again next weekend! I love my friends so very much.
