Day 72

Who are we? Aegean Sea!
Who are we? Aegean Sea!

WOO!!!

Tonight was the opening ceremonies of the sea olympics. WOOO!

We all gathered in the Union wearing our sea colors and got ready to battle it out. We chanted and screamed, the energy was high. Each sea presented their banners and their chants to the judges. We are the Purple Cobras. And our chant was solidly put together but not that solidly performed.

There were two seas that I think are neck and neck for winning the points for the chant. All of the faculty and staff created their own sea – they are the Diploma-Sea. Ba dum ch. And there chant was pretty awesome:

"Give em an F! F!
Give em an F! F!
Give em an F! F!

Diploma-SEA, Diploma-SEA!
From east to west we all agree!
Bachelors, Masters, Doctors, too -
Diplomas crush the likes of you!

Diploma-SEA, Diploma-SEA!
From east to west we all agree!
When you play us, think it through -
We give grades to all of you!

Diploma-SEA, Diploma-SEA!
From east to west we all agree!
Midterms, quizzes, papers due -
Diplomas crush the likes of you!"

All of the dependent children are in their own sea, they are the dead sea. Their chant was laugh-out-loud hilarious:

We don't know what you've been told
(Dead sea seals)
But we are young and you are old
(Dead sea seals)
We don't even know your name
(Dead sea seals)
To us you all look just the same
(Dead sea seals)
Whenever you are on the spot
(Dead sea seals)
You say like-like-like A LOT
(Dead sea seals)
We are fast and strong and BOLD
(Dead sea seals)
We are going for the GOLD!
(Dead sea seals)

Captain Jeremy officially opened the ceremony and reminded us that safety, friendship, and respect are all more important than winning.

Tomorrow are 29 events that will determine which sea is the best. I am competing in 4 of them: Wet T-Shirt Relay, Human Knot, Limbo, and Secret Event #2.

I am the most nervous about limbo. I didn’t think about the rocking ship when I signed up. Or the fact that little kids will be competing.

The events go all day long starting at 9:30, with the closing ceremonies at 17:00. They will be airing live updates of the scores on channel 4 in all the rooms.

The winning sea gets to decide if they want to disembark the ship first in Ft. Lauderdale, or last. Tough choice, I don't know if I want to have to make it.

After the opening ceremonies, there was a dance, and they were simultaneously playing The Host. But instead Molly, Lillian, and I had a makeup party and Molly did awesome eye makeup on all of us. She has skills, she used to work at Ulta. It was so pretty that I was sad when I had to wash it off to get ready for bed.

We made a brief presence at the dance but there was barely anyone there, so we decided to watch Silver Linings Playbook. Such a good movie, and neither of them had seen it before.

The daytime was boring. Oh, except Molly had her hair dyed bright red! It looks so awesome. And she had it cut. It makes me want to get my hair cut but I also am trying to grow it out and the two are mutually exclusive.

In other news:

I FINISHED BLOGGING!

Only took me four freaking days.

Now I am all caught up.
