A Semester In Review: Fall 2011

Fall semester of my sophomore year has come to a close and before I jump into winter break and Christmas merriment I though I should look back over my favorite semester of college to date:

First, I got a job. Both of my suitemates and I work for Media Services. We set up for and work events around campus, big and small. Our boss is the coolest guy ever, we got really lucky. It is fun, a challenge and one of the many wonderful things to happen to me sophomore year.

I got a new family! For theta of course. :) I got a new twin, who is my favorite person in the whole world, I don't know what I did without her. Then, after we got a new member class my twin and I got a little! She is equally as cool and makes our small little family complete.

My twin was the person that got me involved in Rhapsody, which is my favorite thing that happened this semester. She recruited me to be in her movie because I was willing to fall in a lake after being hit in the head by a soccer ball.

It was so worth it, I met some fabulously awesome people and have the time of my life. I have never laughed so much.

And we are not even done yet! We still have a reshoot and a whole lot of work on the audio to finish. I am glad we still have so much to do because even though I can not wait for the final product I am not ready for it to be over.

I finally saw Taylor Swift in concert after a few years of wishing. It was worth the wait, she was enchanting.

I would see her again in a second, she put on a wonderful show and has music that is relatable to anyone. Love her.

We did a fair amount of volunteering. We went to an organic farm and did some planting. We spent the better half of the day planting cabbage and lettuce and parsley. We also weeded, met some chickens and ate oranges that we picked right off the tree.

We also volunteered for the Forgotten Children's March which helped raise awareness for children that are in the court system without a Guardian Aid Litem. It was a fun day we a little closer to our hearts since our philanthropy is CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates).

I also went and helped out at a huge soup kitchen like safe house in downtown Tampa that gives needy families groceries, toys, and help, if they want it. I sorted the donated food and met some really nice people.

We went to Blizzard Bleach early in the semester. The only time we went to Disney this semester, which is not ok, but it was still a great time. It was a sister trip so we did a lot of kiting and bonding. Doing that again is definitely on the list.

I ventured into baking, which turned out better than expected but not perfectly so I need to refine my skills a little.

It was fun to make and frost everything but good lord baking takes a long time. I do not have the time or patience for it. I just want to jump right to the fun part.

This cake was my favorite thing to make because I love trying new things and having them fail completely.

Of course we had our big adventure to Georgia where we went on to the set of The Vampire Diaries and met Tyler Ward.

Speaking of Tyler Ward, he posted a picture the other day of his fan wall and you could see that he had hung up the gift we had given him. It was so cool to see!

This trip was the great adventure of the semester, something that everything thought we were crazy for doing but that was great fun and I would do again in a second. What is life without adventure!?

I went home with Kelicy for Halloween. It was great to be able to trick-or-treat with kids! I am not cool enough for college Halloween. :/

We went of two of the most entertaining school trips for Astronomy. The first one included getting stuck in the sand, having to call AAA, waiting on the side of the road, and going to Mcdonalds for ice cream. It was a great time with our professor, who is hysterically funny and smart, and some classmates. That evening will always hold a place in our hearts.

We did some decorating:

Some renovating:

And we saw some weird things:
But through all the weirdness and the craziness we managed to survive, and with good grades!! I ended with a 3.46 which included an A in Astronomy, something I am very proud of. It was a hysterical, entertaining, wondrous semester of growth and friendship. Here's to what adventures next semester brings and the hope that we will survive them in one piece.
