Iron Man 3 Review

Disclaimer: I am a late comer to the superhero universe, with my knowledge only spanning phase one of the Marvel Avengers movies and a very limited knowledge of the comic books that I gathered from some conversations with my friend. This post will contain limited spoilers.

I also have a deep love for Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark.

I have seen Iron Man 3 twice already. On Thursday we went to the Iron Marathon at the theatre. It started at 1. We saw Iron Man 1, Iron Man 2, and the Avengers before Iron Man 3 at 9. It was magical.

We then went and saw it again on Friday at 3.

My first thought is that it was amazing.

The plot was awesome, I loved that they referenced The Avengers multiple times, and focused on Tony having to deal with the aftermath of it.

Of course I loved the sass. It is my life goal to have a level of sass that is a mix between Tony Stark and Captain Jack Sparrow. I loved his interactions with the little boy that he encounters. I loved his interactions with Pepper. I loved that Pepper went all BAMF and wasn't all damsel in distress the whole movie.

The movie has a fantastic twist that I did not see coming and was hilarious and genius. The trailer and all marketing hid it perfectly. My friend and I really thought that someone was going to die, we were surprised when no one did, but a few people came close enough.

I didn't feel Jon Favreau's absence, it still felt like an Iron Man movie.

One of my friends said that he felt like the plot was really jumpy but I disagree, it was really linear and easy to follow. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time and it didn't feel slow at any time.

The villain was amazing. I liked him because he was more based in reality, and less like a superhero gone wrong, or like someone misusing Stark's technology again.

I don't know how I feel about the end. It tied up the whole trilogy nicely, but I don't know how they will be fitting Iron Man into the next Avengers movie so that would be interesting. It was the kind of ending that didn't bring out an immediate reaction, I was ok with it in the moment but now that I think about it, it makes me uneasy. It was very well done but I don't know what it means for Iron Man and Tony.

There is a scene after the credits, so stay for that.

Definitely see it, it was magical, and action packed, and just plain epic.
