Writing Ramblings and Poems
I really like to write. And I feel like I am fairly good at it. I could never be an actual writer, I am bad with deadlines. I need to be able to write on my own time, when I feel a story or thoughts within me and want to write them down. But when I do have a stroke of inspiration and creativity I find that some interesting things come out.
I recently stumbled upon some of the things that I wrote last spring for my creative writing class and was super impressed with my former self. We did a few different things, some creative non-fiction and some fiction. We also wrote some poetry, which I generally am wretched at, but one of them I feel is extremely good. Granted, I had help with it. My English major friend helped a lot with the creative process, so some credit goes to him. The poem had to be an "I Am" poem. A poem about me, or something about me. And I feel like this poem is pretty awesome so I thought I would share it.
BEHOLD:
BAM. DISNEY. My disney-ness loves to come out at all times. There is no controlling it and it literally is my go to for everything.
In the fall I will be taking a travel writing course on the ship, which means I will be doing a lot of writing about the places that I will be going. I already plan on blogging all the time while I am at sea, that is going to be my main way to let everyone know what is happening. A bunch of my posts will be sharing the things that I write for my class because it will be a built in reason to write and will help me not double up my writings, since time will probably be limited.
I also want to share some of the other things that I have written because I am proud of them. They are a little bit longer though so I will have to find someway to share without boring you to tears and overloading my blog with text.
I hope you thought my poem was as awesome as I thought it was! Happy Monday!

BEHOLD:
I
am…
I am a Disney Princess, unlike any
other,
The fairest of them all, without an
evil stepmother.
To wake me from my slumber, you’ll
fail without a kiss,
And I’ll know you’re my soul mate
when that glass slipper fits.
You don’t need a fancy car to be
the object of my eye,
Just take me on a carpet ride
through an endless diamond sky.
You can think I am odd, go ahead
and be my guest,
I’ll find your hearts kindness
right through your furry chest.
Care for me like a rose in a sacred
glassy shrine,
So we can have our song, and tale
as old as time.
I’ve got “who’s its” and “what’s
its” galore,
But I want to be part of your
world, I want so much more.
For I’ll know every rock and tree
and creature,
And use the colors of the wind to
paint your features,
I am a Disney princess, strange as
it may seem.
So take my hand and walk with me,
once upon a dream.
