Spring 2015 - Day 74

Since I really wanted to shower I contemplated getting up at 6 shower but when my alarm went off at 6 I decided that definitely wasn't going to happened and went back to sleep until 7:30. I went into the bathroom to brush my teeth and, without even thinking about it, I turned on the sink. It sputtered to life and ran an orange-y yellow. I turned it off and used the water in my water bottle to brush my teeth.

Half an hour later I was sitting in classroom three, which is part of the piano lounge, getting ready to start photojournalism when Kevin came on, apologizing for making such an early announcement.

THE WATER DESALINATION SYSTEM IS BACK UP!!

The crew worked all night long and managed to fix the problem. So we could have water whenever we wanted again. Hallelujah!!

The shower that I took after class was glorious. Absolutely glorious. I definitely got lucky by deciding not to get up at 6am. Stephanie had gotten up at 5 so that she could work out and be back in the room to shower by the time the water was back on. She said that shower was cold and yellow.

I definitely made a gamble and this time it worked out in my favor.

In the afternoon I started on my art project. It was technically supposed to be due today but I hated the idea that I had come up with until my teacher gave me a great one. I was going to use cameras as a pattern and make the sketches inside each of their lenses one of the pattern that I took pictures of in South Africa.

First I sketched out the simple shape of a camera that I was going to use, cut it out and traced it 20 times.

At some point in the afternoon we received another unscheduled announcement. Whatever they had done to repair the water system did not hold.  It was back down and we had to go back to the previous system.

OH NO.

Thank god I had showered when I did. Again, my choices were working in my favor. I could go two more days without showering right? But what if it wasn't fixed the first day in Cape Town? I definitely couldn't go three days without showering.

I just really didn't want to take a cold and yellow shower. Maybe they will fix it again?
