First Real Day = Lightsaber Duels.

Today was awesome! I spent the entire first two hours of my shift playing with lightsabers. I stood at the build your own lightsaber station in Mickey Star Trades and helped kids make their own lightsabers. Then I had lightsaber battles with a bunch of them. There was one little tiny kid, probably four or younger, who I dueled for at least twenty minutes. He was adorable and was so into it. He did not want to leave when his dad finally said they had to go. I told him that I needed the lightsaber back so that I could teach other kids how to be a Jedi but he wasn't having it. He really wanted to get the lightsaber. I ended up needed to trade him for a Mickey sticker.

I spent a lot of time reorganizing the pieces because people would make them just for the hell of it, not to buy it, and then just leave the whole thing or put the parts back randomly. I also had to help a girl who lost something on the Stitch ride. The ride dumps out right near the lightsaber station so I walked up to try and find a ride attendant. I saw what the inside of the ride looked like - definitely never going on that.

There was a family who spent at least 40 minutes building their sabers. They were clearly very hardcore when it came to what parts and colors it needed to have on it. They already had a few at home and so they wanted to get pieces that they didn't already have and yet the younger girl was finally going to get her own and so she just wanted to but what she wanted on it. Her older brother was not happy. They were awesome. I wish I was that hardcore about something that awesome.

After about two hours I got bumped from the position and went on break. When I got back from break I was put on a register in Mickey Star Traders. That register was my home for the rest of the day. It all went by really fast, helping people and ringing their things up is just plain fun. I worked with an awesome guy, Matthieu, from Paris. He and I had fun working the registers together. There was this little game that we sell where you have to get the five balls to rest in the divots. We had contests to see who could do it the fastest.

I had to go to the stock room a few times and find some items and I had to go find items in the store, and I gave souvenir advice a lot. The people I work with are awesome. I felt completely comfortable asking questions and talking to people. It was a great time. It was nice because I didn't just stand there the whole time, I was able to walk around and talk to people. The day flew, finally the announcements and then the music for The Magic, The Memories, and You show and then Wishes came on in the shop. Everything shut down really quickly after that.

Then I was assigned a closing duty, I had to restock things in the red zone, which was one part of Mickey Star Traders. Everyone finished way before me because I was slow but it was a good experience. The funniest thing I had to do was reattach the mickey slippers. They had all been pulled apart during the day so I got to use one of those awesome guns that shoots one of those plastic things that holds tags.

Closing went by fast too. My feet did hurt by the end of the day but not as bad as expected, and I hardly noticed it until I got on the bus because I was having so much fun.

I was dancing to the Wishes music and one of the coordinators said that I was such a newbie. That after a month I wouldn't be doing that anymore. I told her that wasn't true, that I was a disney geek and am always energetic. She said she still didn't believe me, that the guests will get to me and I will be tired of it. I still don't believe her. Guests don't bother me, Lake Compounce taught me that, and how could I ever get tired of Disney music.

I'm pretty sure I will always be dancing.

I am off the next three days. Time to do laundry, and get some presents for people! I'm kicking off the weekend right by watching The Fox and the Hound, an adorable movie. Tomorrow, I am going into Magic Kingdom with Angie for only an hour or two to give her a tour. She has her first day as an official character attended tomorrow but she spent all of her training days at either Animal Kingdom or EPCOT and she has never really been to the Magic Kingdom. I am going to be her guide until she needs to work at 3ish.

If you read this whole thing, thank you, it was very wordy. :)
