The Week I Met An Italian, Worked Night Of Joy, and Signed Up For a Marathon

This was an extremely eventful week, during which I learned that working at night is not conducive to blogging. So, here is the week in quick review:

Tuesday:

Nothing too exciting happened today. I mailed my packages, and went to work. Pretty basic.

Wednesday:

I got a package from my parents in the mail. They sent it all the way from San Francisco when they were there on vacation last week. The box was full of new friends!

I actually learned that my parents had argued about whether to get Goofy or Donald, there was a sale on the 15" plushes. My mom really wanted Goofy but they ended up with Donald. My mom was very mad because apparently Goofy was very cute so when they were here this weekend my mom wanted to buy Goofy. Over here they do have the same sale but apparently they do not like Donald, Pluto, or Goofy because they only have Minnie and Mickey. We went to so many places and no Goofy. My mom is so sad, she may have to fly back to San Francisco to get Goofy. Poor Goofy.

I also went crazy on Wednesday and made the decision to run a half marathon. There was a sign posted on a bulletin board back stage that said that cast members get a discount on both individual and team registration. Of course it is more fun to be crazy with someone else so I texted Kellie and she was for it. So we are now registered to run the Disney Princess Half Marathon on February 24th. I am actually pretty excited, its something different. That, and you get a lot of cool stuff.

Pretty awesome. Bring it on.

Thursday:

I got another package from my mom today, it was full of stuff that I had left at home and some other stuff. They got me a t-shirt and a biography of Walt Disney at the Walt Disney Family Museum in California. My mom also got me a food scale, which I am way too excited about.

I went to EPCOT in the morning with Angie and Meera. They were spending the whole day there but I had to work at 2:15 so I just joined them for the morning so that I could take them to Italy for pizza. We went on Soarin' and then walked the countries.

 Cheerio!

Oh France, how I wish I could indulge in your delicious treats.

Met some friends! Aladdin and I share a love of purple.

I told Angie and Meera about the very attractive waiters in Italy. In EPCOT, every country had cast members that are actually from that country. Apparently everyone from Italy is beautiful. We were sitting at a corner table and Angie and Meera decided that they too wanted to look at the restaurant so they sat on the same side of the table as me. We sat like that the whole meal. These two guys saw us sit like that and proceeded to make fun of us, saying that we wanted to see the view. Which was true.

They were pretty funny. Our actual waiter was a girl but the one in green was our water guy, and our table was right next to the water station so we talked to him a lot. They are all on the International College Program, which means that they all live in the apartment complex next to ours.

The guy in red, Simone, kept coming over and talking to us, and he also would bring other waiters over and introduce us. The restaurant was pretty empty so were were getting way too much attention. Which I am not complaining about. It was a very entertaining lunch.

Not only that but the pizza was so good! They import the water for the crust from Italy and it is delicious. I got the five cheese white pizza. It was my treat of the week and it was so worth it.

It was a perfect lunch in every way.

Work was pretty average but I am starting to make more friends there. Especially because I always work at night, with the other CPs. We have a good time.

Friday:

Today I worked from 4:45 to 2:45am.

But before that I went shoe shopping with my mom! My dad had a conference in Orlando so my mom flew down too so that they could visit. We decided to go shopping because I had just recently thrown out a bunch of shoes, but I didn't really find anything that I wanted. So I ended up with new work sneakers that are more comfortable and new running shoes. So not a complete failure.

I was working so late because it was Night of Joy at the park. Night of Joy is a two night contemporary Christian music festival. There were a lot of bands playing, some I had even heard of: Casting Crowns and NEEDTOBREATHE. There were a lot of youth groups there and there were two main stages in Tomorrowland so it seemed like there was a zillion people there but they weren't really in the stores so it was pretty slow.

I did get a "star card" for helping a dude build his lightsaber. He came up to the counter without any pieces on it so I brought him back to the lightsabers and showed him how you can add stuff. He thought I was the coolest person ever and asked if he could tell someone that so I got my manager and she wrote me out a card. Woohoo!

The stockers went stock crazy the last hour so by the time we closed there was nothing to do so we all went home early, I left at 2:15.

Saturday:

My parents took me out to lunch at a steak place. They picked me up so they could see my apartment.

I worked at 5:15 until 1:45. It was the second night of Night of Joy and I was in the store that Space Mountain dumps out into so it was a lot busier then the store I had been in the night before. I was at the register near the cooler so I sold mostly drinks. But I had a few great guest interactions. One guy loved the buttons that we give out. It was his birthday so he had a few and he told me that it was his and his girlfriends 1 year anniversary the next week so I gave him the Anniversary and the Happily Ever After Button for him to surprise his girlfriend with.

I also made one guys day by giving him a pin. He asked me what they were for so I told him about pin trading, we was sad because he loved donald and I had a donald pin. I told him about the starter sets and we talked for a while. The starter sets are expensive and he was really sad so I told him I would start his collection and gave him the donald pin that I had. It was a great magical moment.

I was glad to leave though because my feet and knees hurt so much. I was very dumb going to EPCOT on thursday and then working three long shifts. My knees were not happy with me at all.

Sunday:

I rolled out of bed this morning at 10:30 and went to brunch with my mom and dad in Celebration. I had a omelet with mushrooms and spinach and a fruit cup on the side. It was delicious. My parents and I then mutually ditched each other. I was planning on meeting Angie at the park after her shift and my parents were going to look at real estate. Since I will eventually be down here permanently, they want to get an apartment so they can visit.

Since it was pouring rain and I did not feel great Angie and I decided to not meet so I took a three hour nap. It was wonderful, I felt so refreshed and my knees feel a bit more recovered.

I have tomorrow off as well and I am looking forward to it. Hopefully it will not be raining so that I can go to the pool.
