Day 12
WE PLAYED CARDS AGAINST HUMANITY TONIGHT! It was awesome. (P.S. Evan, you're handmade card made it into my game. So… I have it)
Before that we had our cultural pre-port where we learned how to not die in Germany. Which I guess is a good thing. They don't have anything as exciting as the bridges going up in the middle of the night. And their language is a little bit easier to interpret. We were showed the funniest video comparing the elegant other european languages and german. Then Dr. Dave talked to us, which is always a good time. He likes to be blunt, and basically told all the ladies to break out their inappropriate clothes now since we won't be able to wear then once we get out of Europe because of the cultures. He also told us to wear sunscreen when we go to the nude beaches in France and recommended bringing two condoms with you to Amsterdam in case something happens to the first one. Absolutely perfect. Love it.
Tomorrow I am going on a program to Miniature Wunderland. Which is a huge miniature train set up with cities from all over the world in miniature. It is the largest in the world. Pretty cool. That only goes until 2 so I will get to be spontaneous after that. The next day I am leaving for an overnight to Munich. Woo!
Today we spent the entire day going through the Kiel Canal. It is a canal that splits Denmark and Germany, its basically a short cut so that we don't have to go all the way back around Denmark. It gets pretty narrow at some points so it was really interesting to go through. You know when you see a really cool train go by or a really nice car and you can't help but take a picture of it even if there are people sitting in it looking right at you? Yeah, that happened to us all day today. There were so many people standing outside of their houses or on the pier or just on the side of the road and taking pictures of our ship. I have never waved so much in my life.
It was beautifully green all around us, and there were so many swans! It was such a change from being surrounded by ocean all the time.
We actually got to Hamburg really early, but it costs money to be in dock so we kind of just floated there for a really long time, waiting for midnight to roll around so that we could actually pull into our spot.
We had a sampling of German food tonight for dinner. It was ok…
But tomorrow I get to try it for real! WOO GERMANY!
It is crazy that we are already in our next port. We are already one down, what!?
