The Chip Has Been Implanted
Today is going to go down in the history of my life as one of the greatest days. I got to go through Traditions, the class everyone takes as they begin working, I also received my ID and my name tag!!
Angie and I went to the gym again this morning, it was great, I am liking that routine.
I wore my very favorite dress. One of the full time managers was wearing it at work this summer and I loved it so much that I immediately ordered it. It was a fantastic decision because it is perfect.

We had to be at the bus stop by 12:45 and we got there at 12:20! And yet there were already tons of people there because apparently early is the new late and everyone gets there hours before hand. But then I got to witness 60 people panic at once because it was past 12:45 and the bus still wasn't there. It eventually came and we all breathed a sigh of relief at once that we had collectively missed our first day of work.
The bus took us to the Magic Kingdom employee lot where Disney University and a lot of other service building are.
We were sorted into our groups and taken into our classrooms. We received our ID badges as we went into the classroom. This now means I can go into the parks any day I want for free. That is right, for free. Hell, I am going everyday. It also means I can get tons of discounts which is almost just as cool.
The classroom was awesome. My new favorite thing about Disney is that they put so much thought and detail into everything and everything. It doesn't matter if it is on stage or off stage. Even the crosswalk sign in the employee parking lot had a little bit of disney magic on it, it wasn't just a normal crossing sign.
There was a lot of paperwork out for us in the classroom. I loved all of it, and read it all. The big book we worked in all day but we also got a handbook on safety and a card that listed the four keys.
Lake Compounce nerd moment: They gave us a book on Guests with Disabilities. I loved learning the different things they do, since our SAM policy is a struggle.
We learned about Disney history, a lot of which I already knew. That awkward moment when you already know everything your class on Disney, at Disney is teaching you...
We got to storyboard the timeline. I know know that although I know the events I do confuse the order. Especially the ones that happened all around the same time, or what I think is the same time. But my team did fairly well.
We also did a really good job at listing as many animated Disney characters as possible. If this is what the training for my job is going to be like then heck yeah!
When we learned about the four keys we got to walk to the Magic Kingdom and look for them in action. We got to wear those awesome ear pieces so that we could hear our leader talking to us even though we were not close to him. Our groups name was Pricklepants. For those of you who don't know, that is the adorable porcupine character from Toy Story 3.
When we were walking back into the Utilidors through Tomorrowland a few of our ear pieces picked up the Stitch ride. We could hear the audio of it perfectly, it was hilarious. We were all so confused at first. Now I can say that I know what happens on that ride even though I have never been on it.
Walking into the park gave me that warm and fuzzy feeling that it always does. It made me realize that I really am in the right place. Of course I want to work somewhere that makes me feel like this all the time.
Its the same way I feel when I went to work back home, except more potent.
When we got back to Disney University we went through each of the keys in turn.
Second Lake Compounce nerd moment: Their four keys are Safety, Courtesy, Show, and Efficiency! Same as us, they just group cleanliness in with show. Totally nerded out when they started talking about that. Apparently it is a good system!
Then Mickey Mouse visited us!! He is definitely my favorite character. He's adorable. He brought us our name tags and helped hand out prizes when we played a trivia game. It was a magical moment.
Disney knows how to make every journey special.
We got our name tags at the very end of the class, I almost cried. I actually teared up a lot during the class. Especially every time they played a video that Walt Disney was in. Getting my name tag and putting it on was a magical moment. I can not wait to start work.
That actually happens tomorrow and I am really nervous. Mostly because I don't know exactly where I am going and I hate the potential to be lost and late. I have to be there at 9 so I am going to take the early bus so that I have plenty of time to find my way.
As my mom and dad say, the chip has officially been implanted. I am officially part of the cast and I am so proud.
